The Perfect Finish to Your Dream Kitchen

A good cooker hood doesn’t just look good, it works hard to remove steam and odours from your kitchen, keeping the air clean and fresh and reducing condensation. Alongside the practical uses of a cooker hood, they allow you to bring style to your kitchen.

Types of Cooker Hoods

  • Extraction Cooker Hoods

Externally vented cooker hoods use ducts to transfer air from the kitchen to the outside. The grease filters won’t need replacing, they do need a good clean every now and then. Just keep in mind that the ducting will require some room to allow for external extraction.

Recirculation hoods rely on charcoal filters to trap moisture and grease and reduce lingering odours in the air. Because there is no exterior ducting, these extractors are easy to install, but the filters must be replaced on a regular basis.

With our wide selection of kitchen extractor fans, hoods, and other appliances, we can help you create a stylish and functional kitchen with a fully integrated hood system. It’s a great option for new builds or kitchen renovations and helps to modernise the space. Integrated cooker hoods filter the air without stealing the spotlight from your beautiful kitchen design making them the best choice for subtle yet effective air filtering.

Island cooker hoods are perfect for those with island countertops and cookers. They’re designed to be installed as ceiling extractor fans, offering a filtering and extraction system exactly where you need it most. Our range of island cooker hoods comes in stunning modern designs that blend seamlessly into contemporary kitchens. Whether you're cooking up a storm or just simmering a nice pasta sauce, these hoods not only keep your kitchen fresh but also add a stylish touch.

Who can Fit a Cooker Hood?

The UK doesn't require a license to install cooker hoods, although it's always better to rely on a professional if you're unsure of the process. You'll most likely need an electrician to connect the cooker hood and extraction fan to the electricity mains. For insurance purposes, you'll also need to have your cooker hood signed off by a licensed electrician. Cooker hoods play a large role in removing indoor pollution while cooking, so professional installation isn't something that should be overlooked.

What are Cooker Hoods used for?

Cooker hoods are key to preventing indoor cooking pollution from lingering in your home. They do this in two ways, depending on the type of cooker hood you have;

  • Extraction hoods: Externally vented cooker hoods use ducts to transfer air from the kitchen outside. The grease filters in an extraction hood shouldn’t need replacing but you will need to clean them periodically. You will need space to fit the ducting to accommodate the external extraction.
  • Recirculation hoods: Recirculation hoods rely on charcoal filters to trap moisture and grease and reduce the presence of odours in the air by pushing air through filters before releasing it back into the house. These are easier to install because there’s no outside ducting, but you will need to replace these filters periodically.

This is why cooker hoods are typically situated above your hob and oven. Any smoke, gas, and steam will make its way upward toward the cooker hood, be pushed into either the extraction fan or recirculation filter and leave the air in your house smoke and smell-free.

Do Cooker Hoods Need an Outside Wall?

This will depend on the type of cooker hood you plan on installing. Cooker hoods with a kitchen extraction fan will need an outside wall, while cooker hoods with recirculation filters can be placed anywhere inside.
